How SAM Life Savers Serves During Ramadan
Every year during Ramadan, SAM Life Savers organizes massive Iftar Dastarkhuwan (communal Iftar meals) across Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Our flagship Iftar location at Shamsabad Metro Station, Arid Gate #1, Rawalpindi serves over 400 fasting individuals daily.
Each meal includes freshly cooked Biryani/Pulao, seasonal fruits, dates, Pakoray, and refreshing Sharbat — all prepared with care and served with dignity. The cost per person is just PKR 150, making it accessible for donors of all means to sponsor meals for those in need.
Types of Donations You Can Make During Ramadan
1. Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity)
Sadaqah is a voluntary act of charity with no minimum amount. During Ramadan, the reward for Sadaqah is multiplied manifold. You can donate Sadaqah to fund our Iftar Dastarkhuwans, provide rashan packages to needy families, or support orphanage programs.
2. Zakat (Obligatory Alms)
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, obligatory for every Muslim whose wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold. SAM Life Savers ensures your Zakat is distributed to eligible recipients in a Shariah-compliant manner. Important: Zakat funds are NOT used for Iftar Dastarkhuwans — they are directed strictly to those eligible under Islamic guidelines.
3. Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr)
Fitrana is given before Eid prayer and is typically equivalent to 2.5 kg of staple food (wheat, rice, or barley) per person.
